This is Shadowrun - Jan 14, 2008 - Part 1

This was our latest game and I thought it went very well. I had prepared for a mega-bloodbath in the end, but it didn’t happen. In fact that disappointed me a little because that was exactly what I had prepared for! The biggest problem I had was that I didn’t plan out the other possible encounters as much because I didn’t think they were likely to happen. As always it seems players jobs is to defeat your expectations. The guys did a great job today.

Audio quality on this one is much improved. I plan to keep on recording this, but if your listening at all, give me a shot back with some feedback. Questions, comments, insults, whatever. I can’t improve if I don’t know what needs fixen :P . Due to my current space limitations I can only fit about 1 1/2 weeks worth of audio up at a time. I’m planning on fixing that though. Anyways enjoy.

This is Shadowrun - Jan 7, 2008 - Part 2

This is the second half of our session. I was entirely happy with how it ended. I had orginaly planned to hit the team during the dinner, but for some reason decided against it at the last second. The hit at the motel went much poorer IMO. End result is the players have been picked up by the NYPD (most of them at least) we’ll see where we go from here next time.

This is Shadowrun, Episode 2, Part 1

Well this is the recording of my last session. While we were better organized in terms of being recorded, the audio quality didn’t turn out quite as well this time, though we didn’t max my recorder as often this time. I’ve done my best to normalize and improve it, but there are limits to who much I can improve it. Still it legible enough, all things considered.

I thought the first half of this run (all that is covered in this section at least) went very well. The players did turn what I though to be fairly minor obstacles into big ordeals, which slightly annoyed me, but on the whole I thought they and I handled it pretty well. I used one of the run outlines from Emergence as my base pattern, but modified it somewhat. Any feedback or thoughts would be appreciated!

I’ll put the second half later.

20 Questions with Griff

One of the classic aspects of Shadowrun has always been the ‘20 questions’ you ask a player, to get an idea of what there character is like. I’m not a huge believer in the the ‘classic’ 20 questions, but I do like the concept, and so have been using a slightly modified list for some time. So I sat down with one of my players, Carey and recorded our ‘20 Questions’ with him and his PC, Griff. Hope you enjoy.

This is Shadowrun, Episode One - Part One - A first try at recoarding a session.

Me and my friends have been role playing as a group for several years now. Our sessions have always been enjoyable, and recently I have thought that hey, maybe hearing them might be fun for someone else. So I got a recorder out and recorded it. I was surprised how well it turned out. Since I basically just plopped the thing on the table and continued the game as normal. Still the sound quality is only fair at best, when we got a bit exited we tended to max out the poor quality mic.

Anyways here it is. Consider it more a case study in what a ‘real’ Role Playing session might sound like. Warning its long (3 hours) and contains foul language. Any comments and/or criticisms are welcome. If there is some interest in this, I might start making a regular thing of it. We do it every Monday.
