Major NPCs

DorothyDorothy - The players fixer. Unusual for most fixers in the NYC shadows Dorothy is exceedingly old. So far none of the players have been brave enough to inquire as to exactly how old. Despite her age she is a tough old bat who doesn’t take no crap from nobody. Whats more in the few times the players have seem her in combat she was more than able to handle herself, despite her age.

The exact extent of her connection remain unknown, but she hasn’t appeared to have trouble getting her hands on anything or anybody when necessary. Though she only takes calls on her schedule. Apparently loyal enough to the characters she can be ruthless when double crossed, once hiring Bubba to assassinate the 7 year old daughter of a Johnson that failed to pay up.

“I’ve got a lot invested in this team, so I won’t turn against you unless you make it worth my while. My advice to you is don’t.”

MiaoMiao - An Asian “Freelance Talent Coordinator” for Ares. She was once rescued by the players deep in the New York sewers, and then turned over to Pamala for care. During this care she was evidently infested by a Mantis spirit and became a good merge, which Thrall (one of Trevor’s old characters) discovered the hard way. This fact remains unknown to the current PCs, however. It is also unknown as if Ares is aware of her new nature and the extent of her loyalties to the corp.

In recent times she has acted as a go between for Ares and the runners on several occasions, though the relationship has been mostly one-sided so far. Cold hearted since her transformation she appears willing to do anything to archive her objectives, whatever that is. And she doesn’t appear to much care as to how or what gets sacrificed in her way.

“Hello Gentlemen, Ares again has need of your services.”

PutainVictor Putin - Head of the New York “Vori v Zakone,” or Russian mafia, which is fairly powerful inside NYC. A jolly but ruthless man who has good relations with the players so far. He has a low tolerance for failure, but thankfully the players have not yet run afoul of this. A lover of Urban Brawl and the NYC ‘Thugs’ he has given the players Season tickets on more than one occasion. Has a good opinion of Dorothy and her team.

“Hey Boyos! You’s did some good work! Is good! Now I know have to pluck out your eye like Victor here eh? Ahahah…”

PamalaPamala - An interesting young woman who lives in a Subway car deep under the New York sewers. The juxtaposition of her blond headed good looks and kind attitude with her very strange location has creped the team out on many occasions. She is apparently very talented in the magical arts and may possible be a mantis spirit herself.

Always kinds to strangers she always has tea and cookies ready for any visitors. The team has gone to her several times for help and almost never been turned away (though there was that one time with Thrall).

“Welcome again! Sorry I haven’t had a chance to tidy up, I didn’t know you were coming. Would you like some tea and cookies?”

The ExchangeThe Exchange - The most interesting and unusual of the players contacts is the exchange. Quite litteraly a ‘Deus Ex Machina’ the exchange is a mysterious computer program running on Go and Poon’s commlinks, probably best described as a peer-to-peer (P2P) favor exchange network. Somehow the exchange is able to develop information on its users current situations and then advise them of opportunities to help out other members or to assist them. The exact nature of the exchange and how it exactly does this is unclear, as the program has no controls and appears to operate autonomously, the code has qualities similar to that of a sprite, but not enough is present on the commlink for an in depth analysis. Unfortunately this means the exchange operates on its own terms and is not subject to the players whims. So far the exchange has never lead the players astray, and their karma is currently positive. Its motives (if any) remain unknown.
